In 1906, British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) makes his first trip to the Amazon. During several expeditions under the auspices of the Royal Geographical Society, Lieutenant Colonel Fawcett and his assistant Henry Costin (Robert Pattinson) map the previously unknown territory of Bolivia. With the help of the natives, they venture up the Rio Verde. The expedition faces cannibals, disease, endless rain and food shortages, but Fawcett doesn't give up.
Deep in the heart of the rainforest, he finds evidence of an unknown, highly advanced civilization. In England, Fawcett receives only derision from the scientific community, who call his lost civilization mere savages. But Percy's determination and obsession to find the mythical City of Z is growing stronger. With the support of his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), in 1925 Percy, along with his son (Tom Holland) and loyal friend Costin, once again venture into the deep jungle...
