The film World War Z depicts an apocalyptic scenario in which zombies have become a global problem. These creatures are like a plague; they are immaterial, feel no pain, know no fear, and cannot think. Humans have turned into repulsive beings that eat flesh and threaten the survival of mankind. Although the war against them seemed hopeless and ended in victory for humans, the consequences are evident—the infrastructure is in ruins and society is recovering from a huge upheaval. Most people have mysteriously died or been transformed, leaving only the most important ones – governments, organizations such as the UN, and resilient individuals who survived thanks to strict rules. The main character is Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), a reporter sent by the UN to investigate the origin of the zombie epidemic. His task is to uncover who is behind the outbreak, what went wrong, and who is responsible for it all. During his investigation, he discovers that the world is full of lies, secrets, and half-truths, and that uncovering the truth is more complicated than it seems, with survival depending on the determination and ingenuity of individuals.
