Earth was invaded and after a long war, humanity managed to win, but at a high price - a nearly destroyed and uninhabitable planet. Life on Earth is no longer safe for humans, so they live off-planet. However, some individuals are still sent out to retrieve valuable and necessary items despite the danger. Among them is Jack (Tom Cruise), who during one of his missions finds a crashed spaceship and an unconscious woman (Olga Kurylenko) inside. After she subsequently wakes up, he brings her back to his home - "to heaven". Jack learns that the beauty is a resident of Earth, but once upon a time she was part of an expedition to Mars. Interviewing her leaves many open questions hanging in the air that will have to be answered....
