Description:

The famous comic book character Iron Man is one of the most flamboyant superheroes under the wing of the giant Marvel. Yet (or maybe that's why) he's only now been able to join his siblings Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in proudly claiming to have made a movie about them. But don't expect another savior of humanity who was helped to his extraordinary powers by a spider bite or radiation. The man with the iron mask, Tony Stark by his civilian name, has worked his way "honestly" to his exceptionalism. The quotation marks are appropriate, Tony makes his living as a VIP manufacturer and supplier of high-tech weapons to the US military, and his life philosophy is summed up in the phrase: The best weapon is the one you only need to fire once. On his way back from a hilarious presentation of the latest weapon of mass destruction to the military top brass, he is kidnapped on hot Afghan soil by a terrorist group. The man who had America at his feet suddenly finds himself in the possession of people who want only one thing from him - to start making weapons for them. With his ingenuity, exceptional intellect and ability to improvise, Tony builds a "suit of armour" that will help him escape. That's when he gets the idea to make this improvised metal suit even better. And so Iron Man is born...

In a hit parade of charming rogues who don a mask every now and then to save the world, he'd take the top spot. That's why the original comic book superhero Iron Man is getting a second installment. It promises to be another intense experience, with more star names - Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke - adding to the already luxurious cast of the first film. But Iron Man 2's main asset is its story. While most of the masked Rexes relentlessly alternate between civilian and invincible, secret identities, skilled inventor and gunsmith Tony Stark (Downey) rings out live to the world that he's the one hiding underneath the metal plating. The unprecedented revelation, of course, carries consequences. The United States government takes a keen interest in Iron Man and wants to enlist Tony Stark in its service. Of course, the competition isn't sleeping either, especially one Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), who has always been one step behind Stark and now promises to make his own high-tech armor for the government if Stark won't hand over his armor. Also posing a danger to Tony is "East Wind", a tattooed Russian-born rabbi named Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), nicknamed Whiplash. In addition to unfinished business with the Stark family, he has two electric whips capable of snapping anything and anyone (but ideally Tony) in half. Helping Tony face his growing legion of enemies are his loyal and amorous assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who has since been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries, and his army liaison Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Next to join the party is Tony's new assistant (Scarlett Johansson), who knows and does more than she's willing to admit, and whose intentions may or may not be entirely pure...
