Childhood friends Rocky Sullivan and Jerry Connolly went down different paths in life. After Rocky is arrested, he is sent to a juvenile detention center and becomes a lifelong tough guy and criminal; meanwhile, Jerry becomes a Catholic priest who serves the people in the same neighborhood where he and Rocky grew up. Rocky is released from prison and continues his criminal lifestyle, becoming admired by many local children. Jerry fears the children will follow Rocky into the world of crime, so he tries to keep them on the right path. After Rocky is convicted and sentenced to the electric chair, Jerry asks him for one last favor.
