Dr Dolittle was so exceptional that he was appointed personal physician to Queen Victoria of England. But it used to be. He was widowed a few years ago and has since been secluded behind the walls of his once grand mansion, surrounded by a pack of animal friends with whom he gets on better with than with humans.
But then a cheeky boy, who has taken it into his head to be his apprentice, bursts into his life, and at the same time he is summoned to the queen, who has been struck down by a deadly disease. And since the cure for the disease is only found on a myth-ridden exotic island, Dolittle must embark on a highly adventurous voyage into the unknown.
Accompanied, of course, by his friends, including a fearful gorilla, a goofy goose, a cynical ostrich, an optimistic polar bear and an incredibly clever parrot. A large team will be needed as Dolittle faces dangers he is not prepared for, and a band of enemies are hot on his heels, intent on foiling his plan to save the Queen at any cost...
