Every day on her way to work, Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) takes the train around Witney. The train passes by her old house, where her ex-husband lives with his new wife Anna. A few houses away, she sees a different married couple every day.
Rachel gradually grows fond of this couple and names them "Jess and Jason" for herself. They seem to have the perfect life, and Rachel both envies and wishes them happiness. One day, as she drives past their house, she witnesses something that changes everything she has ever thought about this couple...
