The parody musical is based on a much-seen, but in this case deliberately lemonade situation - a decent girl Allison falls in love with a sharp boy nicknamed The Lark (Johnny Depp). However, preventing their feelings from coming to full fruition are Allison's grandmother and her well-mannered but bored-to-death boyfriend. Fortunately, however, the two lovers manage to escape to a concert. However, a fight breaks out and those involved in the scuffle are arrested. Into all this comes a girl who claims she is pregnant with Uřvánk's child. The film deliberately pokes fun at elements of retro musicals, schemes of unhappy love and rock poses. There's also an elaborate play on kitsch, whether it's the tragic backgrounds of the two characters, the visual stylisation or the songs themselves. It is the songs, then, that are a crucial part of the whole film, and despite their overwrought nature, they have earned considerable popularity amongst the film's fans...
