Finney Shaw is a normal 13-year-old whose life is changed by a sadistic killer who kidnaps him and imprisons him in a soundproof basement where there is no point in crying for help. But then a disconnected phone hanging on the wall rings and the kidnapper's previous victims start talking to Finney from the receiver.
